The garden was created thirty years ago to celebrate the connection with our Japanese sister city, Tokai-Mura, and to encourage peace and understanding between peoples throughout the world.

Visitors to the Japanese Friendship Garden can explore a traditional Japanese garden gate, many water features, a viewing platform, a deck, and a “Dragon’s Path” over a pond. The garden also features a large Japanese lantern given to the city by Tokai-Mura. All of these features were built by volunteers who donated many hours of their time.
